Course description

This course is designed for students at good intermediate/upper intermediate level (B2+/C1). It is focused mainly on the key vocabulary used in the academic world but also includes general English reading, listening and speaking tasks.

Course contents

I. Academic vocabulary

Working with academic vocabulary (key nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs, phrasal verbs in academic English, words with several meanings)

Word combinations (typical nouns, verbs and adjectives and the words they combine with, fixed expressions)

Talking about sources, facts, evidence, data, statistics , graphs and diagrams.

II. General English

Grammar review (tenses; expressing ability, possibility and obligation; modifying comparison, gerund and infinitive)

Ad hoc speaking, reading and listening activities
